What's On Autumn Term 2017

Extreme Reading – It’s been another summer of “Extreme Reading”.  Before the long summer holiday the Library asks all the students and staff to take a photo of themselves “Extreme Reading” during the holidays.  This could be “Extreme Reading” while waterskiing, while riding an elephant or on top of the Eiffel Tower!  All the entries are displayed in the Library and the most creative photo wins a prize.  Winners will be announced at the end of September.

Summer Reading Challenge – this year’s summer reading challenge was called the Summer Holiday “Book Bingo Board”.  Students who wanted to take part collected a book bingo board from the Library before the end of the summer term.  During the summer holidays the students need to read a variety of material including a book which makes them laugh, a book with a female character, a classic book, a newspaper and a magazine.  When they have finished reading each item they cross it off on their book bingo board.  At the start of the autumn term the students bring their completed book bingo board to the Library, they are asked some questions about what they have read and then they are able to collect a lucky dip prize.

Revamped Secondary Collection – this year the Library’s secondary Library is going to see a major reorganisation of the secondary fiction books.  Every book will be reclassified and recatalogued under its corresponding genre.  This will make it much easier for the students to choose a book which is relevant to their interests.
