 Arabic

The Arabic department teaches listening, reading, writing and skills in the Arabic Language to native speakers in Key Stage 5. It is an optional subject for both native and non-native speakers.

Students studying Arabic opt to study initially at AS level. Once they have completed this, they may go on to study for the A2 examination. The selected examination board is Edexcel and the scheme of work is created by the teacher.

Assessments

Students in Key Stage 5 are assessed in line with school policy and the assessments are outlined in the school calendar. They are given continuous assessments on taught materials, together with termly assessments in Key Stage 5. These help  determine the grade of the students and enables the teacher to deliver teaching materials accordingly.

The Arabic Department organises trips and school activities to help reinforce the curriculum as well as to develop their social skills and environmental awareness. Visits have been organized to the Islamic Museum, the Ceramique Café and Souq Waqif. The department also hosts Arabic Heritage Week during school hours. The Language Café is held annually and students also prepare and attend the Arabic Breakfast event.
