Curriculum >> Key Stage 4 >> Arabic
The Arabic
department teaches listening, speaking, reading and writing skills in the
Arabic Language to native speakers to Key Stage 4 students. It is a core
subject for native speakers and optional for non-native speakers.
Students
studying Arabic can opt to study for GCSE or IGCSE from Year 10 and can,
thereafter, go on to study for the AS and A2 examinations. The selected
examination board is Edexcel and the Scheme of Work is created to deliver
relevant modules and topics.
Assessments
Students
in Key Stage 4 are assessed in line with school policy and the
assessments are outlined in the school calendar. Students are given
continuous assessments on taught materials, together with termly assessments.
These help determine the progress and current working grades for each student
and enables the teacher to deliver teaching materials accordingly to meet
student needs.
The Arabic
department organises trips and school activities to help reinforce the
curriculum as well as to develop social skills and environmental awareness.
Visits have been organized to the Islamic Museum, the Ceramique Café and Souq
Waqif. The department also hosts the Arabic Heritage Week during school hours.
The Language Café is held annually and students also prepare and attend the
Arabic Breakfast event.
